Now, Moving Units may have fallen a bit out of favor with the hip set in the past year or so (it's been a few years since they released "Anyone," their best song) as the whole dance-punk thing has subsided, but the band are still touring around, recently hitting KL-Live in Kuala Lumpur. Akmal Naim, HSB's resident photographer for the past few years, attended and send over these pictures.
Friends of HSB Telepathe did a short Asian/Pacific tour in December and the beginning of January, hitting up Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and several other places out there. When they were in Singapore, HSB's relocated photographer Akmal Naim attended the show and snapped a bunch of pictures. You can see some of them below.

Well, I didn't actually have a camera with me at the Nine Inch Nails show this past Sunday at the Echoplex, but I did have my cell phone on it. Call this the possibly laziest photo post of all time on the site but here you go.
And yes, the show was intense, amazing, and probably one of the best of the year once it's all said and done.
This past weekend, I hopped on tour with Little Boots in the UK as they played Reading and Leeds, as well as Manchester Pride (their gay pride festival). Check out some live pictures and a couple of other behind-the-scenes ones. The last one is from when I was on stage behind Boots and did my really awkward dance (if anyone has youtube footage of it, send to me! It was during "Stuck On Repeat". A bunch more from the whole weekend will be up on Shadowscene.com later this week.

Last week was the LA debut (I think?) for Micachu & The Shapes, the UK experimental pop outfit. I've seen them a few times, at SXSW when they played at our party, and am a big fan of their debut record Jewellery which came out earlier this year. HSB photographer Andrew Oliveros was there as well and took photos; the lighting wasn't the best so it was a hard show to shoot for him but a few pictures are below. Also, it's always intriguing how Micachu can make so many disparate sounds and out-of-tune guitars and instruments somehow sound well together - that takes real talent.
The line between "emo kids" and "indie kids" always blur a bit with shows like this, with a headliner like Cursive and support from Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band. To me, Cursive hit their peak a few years back, and Andrew agrees with me as we all still need to take time to really get into their newer material. Cursive aren't going away anytime soon though, and seeing them is never a bad idea.

Los Angeles singer-songwriter Anya Marina was at Hotel Cafe last week, on the 2nd. Now, you know that I'm not a huge singer-songwriter kind of person generally, but this year I've taken a liking to a few (Marissa Nadler, if she counts, Florence and the Machine, Jesca Hoop, etc.), and Anya Marina is the latest that I've been enjoying. HSB photographer Andrew Oliveros attended her show and loved it. It came complete with a T.I. cover and funny banter between the songs, with the standout being "Afterparty at Jimmy's." Overall, Anya might fall into the whole Grey's Anatomy-Starbucks-Hotel Cafe crowd, which isn't the strongpoint of readers of this site, but you never know...
