HSB photographer Akmal Naim and I attended a show at 6th Street Warehouse on Tuesday (the 14th) with The Dodos and Spindrift. I've been talking lots and lots and lots about The Dodos already, so need to explain them anymore. Just know that they were amazing live and, for a band of two, had energy fit for a band of 8. By the end, Meric (the singer) was drenched head-to-toe in sweat and while I didn't see Logan (drummer) afterwards, I imagine he was about the same. Spindrift was a band I had never heard of before the show, but their set made me a fan. They play a Western-tinged and old school vibe-ish form of psychedelic rock that was great music to just close my eyes to and lose myself in (I mean, the band toured earlier this year with Dead Meadow, what do you expect?). Find the rest of the pics and the hi-res versions of the ones below at the Flickr.
Note: Jennifer Gentle also played but they played last and Akmal left the show by then, so there are no pictures of their set.
Lastly, yes, if you're wondering, you're not crazy - the venue was projecting The Adventures of Baron Munchausen on the background during the entire show.
