Some of the greatest news that I have heard in a long, long time dropped onto my lap this past weekend - it seems that My Bloody Valentine may be back, and I don't think I'm totally shitting you this time. If you'll recall, at the beginning of this year, singer Kevin Shields told Magnet Magazine that "We are 100% going to make another My Bloody Valentine record unless we die or something." And now, according to a new article from The Daily Swarm, it seems like the band will be reuniting in time for Coachella 2008. With a track record of reuniting acts such as The Pixies, The Jesus And Mary Chain, Gang of Four and more, I wouldn't be surprised and, to be honest, out of all of the reunion acts of the past few years, this would be my absolute favorite (unless he could convince Jeff Mangum to revive Neutral Milk Hotel). This could be another baseless pre-Coachella rumors like always with absolutely no foundation, but the fact that the band just recently created a MySpace profile (confirmed by the band to be an official page) as well as the fact that the band is currently building a new website (as linked to on their MySpace) point to a reunion (that and Billboard picked up on this too). Reunion show(s) would be amazing, but hopefully just the tip of the iceberg.
Their seminal album Loveless was one of the best album of the 1990s and, well, if not for at least the rumored seven-figure offer they have received to reunite, at least they should do it for the fans. Come back, fellas - we want you.
