I've been slacking on More Music Monday for a couple of weeks now... post-CMJ period was pretty busy and well, last week I just got lazy. I'm back into the swing of things though, so let's just get into it.

I posted about The Ting Tings a bit last week as part of a giveaway for Check Yo Ponytail tickets this past weekend, but after watching their set on Saturday, I'm more convinced than ever that they're going to actually get big in the near future. Besides the fact that their music is catchy, fun and damn good, it doesn't hurt that singer/guitarist Katie White is a gorgeous blonde, which will help out a bit when they start promoting their debut full length, I'm sure. The duo (Jules de Martino is the guy who plays drums and occasional vocals) create upbeat, playful pop music that is fairly comparable to New Young Pony Club. The band haven't released the details yet on when their debut full length will be dropping, but you can be sure that I'll be posting about it when it's allowed to go public. Listen to this band before all of your friends do, because I can guarantee you that everyone will be sooner or later; make sure to visit their MySpace to hear more songs as well.
The Ting Tings - That's Not My Name

To classify Tigercity as "disco rock" wouldn't be terribly incorrect, but it almost does the band a disservice. They're not disco in the sense that VHS or Beta seemed to be with "Night on Fire;" it's a much more subtle kind of danceable rock music that hasn't gotten as much traction as the other dance-rock bands of the past few years. Although I'm not a big fan of Prince's music, Tigercity has a sort of Prince feel to it, so it's weird that I find myself liking them. My coworker found them and I've been listening to them off and on now for a little while. Not too shabby.
