I saw M.I.A. play just last week at the Wiltern Theatre and thought her show was fantastic (better than her Vegoose performance), so when I was sent this little song the other day, it was perfect timing! This is a remix of her song "Paper Planes," except now in the same electro remix that you usually associate the word with. No, this is, in the hip hop sense, a remix with guest rappers singing other verses, sort of like Wale's remix of "D.A.N.C.E."
Anyway, this remix of "Paper Planes" features young rap prodigy Rye Rye, a staple of the Baltimore rap scene who has begun her mission to take over the hip hop world. I don't even really listen to much rap/hip hop at all and I still think she is extremely talented, especially at her age. She is signed to Mad Decent, the label started by Diplo that is also home to Bonde do Role. She's currently on tour with M.I.A. and should be on the tip of everyone's tongues soon. Oh and yes, Afrikan Boy is also on this song, but is outshined by Rye Rye. Grab the song below as well as another Rye Rye song which I've become a big fan of lately.
