You know, I have to make this post to say one thing: The Kooks are a hell of a lot bigger than I thought they were. They're one of those bands that I was like "Oh it's one of those bands that are big on BBC and NME but not much elsewhere" before; I listened to some songs and liked them but never thought much about it. That is, until I found out how sold out their Troubadour show tonight was (very) and then how quickly the tickets to tomorrow night's "secret" show at The Echo sold out (about three hours, I believe).
I guess they're one of those bands that shot so quickly up the popularity charts of indie kids everywhere that it kind of went over my head; maybe it happened during one of my busier work weeks. I did a post about them over a year ago and then, in all honesty, kind of forgot about them. Nonetheless, the band is here kicking ass in LA for a couple of days, so hopefully you are one of the lucky few who have tickets to the shows tonight or tomorrow. Especially tomorrow, since the show is going to have a sweet video booth being doing by HSB's good friend Shadowscene (who is also presenting the show) and you guys know you want to be a part of it.
Their sophomore album Konk is out April 15th through Astralwerks.
