Bands come and go on the internet, where a million are thrown to the wall and readers see what sticks in the end. Well, you can never truly predict what will be a hit and what won't be (I mean, people could clearly see Arcade Fire would be a hit, but can anyone REALLY explain some of the bands that make it big?), but you can always try, so here's one for you: Suckers. You might have heard a bit about them recently, as they got a Pitchfork "Best New Music" tag (read: indie gold) tag on their track "It Gets Your Body Movin'" and some buzz from Stereogum et al, but it'd be criminal for me not to post about them too (especially since they are on IAMSOUND, hello disclaimer!). This is the best band out there that most people don't know about, hands down.
Their self-titled debut EP is out tomorrow in the States, produced by Anand Wilder of Yeasayer. "It Gets Your Body Movin'" is slow, it's epic, and it's something you have to listen to all the way through, no skipping ahead and no skipping out early. The other songs on the EP are catchy and fantastic, but it's this song that really gets you. I don't post about enough "indie rock" on this site (I have a fondness for pop music, and things of electronic leanings, as you all know), so maybe this is an easy way out since it's pretty pop-leaning, but pop in the sense that you know I love. Buy their EP in stores tomorrow.
