Sadly, another Artist I Did Not Discover in 2008. This one is a little more justifiably so - 6th Borough Project didn't release an album last year, only a few 12-inch singles. I would never have heard of 6BP if it were not for a DJ friend of mine; a housewarming party at his house brought 6BP's masterful song "Do It To The Max" to my attention, as he drunkenly put on this record to which I think I was the only person interested enough to walk up and ask what it was.
The song is a slow-burning dark funk/disco blend that can be used to soundtrack at least 30 different situations, including the summer jam lists that I know this will be on; I've been listening to it literally on repeat quite often the past few weeks or so. 6th Borough Project consists of Scottish DJs Craig Smith (been around for about 20 years or so now apparently) and Graeme Clark (The Revenge). I can't seem to find much info about the project, to be honest, and a myspace message to said people remains unread, so we'll just let the music speak for itself. Grab "Do It To The Max" below, buy the limited edition 12-inch (I need to grab myself a copy as well), and then sit and wait for new songs.
