Ok so all this year I have kind of been hating on all of this "surf-rock" and lo-fi shit that everyone seems to be loving (e.g. Wavves and every other self-described buzz band), but I heard Eternal Summers the other week and, I'll be a monkey's uncle, I kind of love it. "Able To" was the track that sucked me in and "Lightswitch," well that was an MP3 someone forwarded to me, so I'm posting it. I think part of it might be because a girl sings in Eternal summers, and all HSB readers know I am a sucker for female vocals, and this stuff is way catchier than any of that other stuff that's come out this year. Their Eternal Summers EP (self-released) was released earlier this year, another EP coming soon, and then their album.
This doesn't mean I still don't intensely dislike most of these lo-fi/I can't tune my guitar/"surfcore" bands though.
