Now that it's 2010, I can continue my "Artists I Did Not Discover" series, except this time obviously set in 2009, not 2008!
With all of the English songstresses that I have been listening to non-stop over the past year or so (see: Florence, Marina, Boots, Ellie, etc.), I'm very glad to finally be representing my own country but putting up some music by a homegrown talent, Lissie.
While Lissie's music doesn't fall in the same pop-friendly category that the aforementioned UK girls did, her voice is just as strong as theirs, sounding quite a bit like Neko Case (which is good, because I like Neko Case although I may not write about her much... or ever). Her debut EP Why You Runnin' came out last November and I. Had. Absolutely. No. Idea. until just a few days ago. Color me stupid.
