A couple of days ago, the girlfriend of one of my roommates told me about Denmark's Under Byen, an experimental, melancholy act that has apparently been around since 1995. I'm not really sure how I've missed this band for so long, but I'm sure glad that someone introduced them to me, because their music is simply beautiful. It reminds me of non-minimalist version of minimalist Icelandic rock, with vocals reminiscent of Björk - it's haunting, beat-driven mellow rock just the way I like it. Their newest album, Samme Stof Som Stof, came out this past October and you can grab two songs from it below. They have also announced brand new North American tour dates, so check those out below as well. Oh and the name is pronounced "Oh-nah Boon" apparently.
