Yeah Yeah Yeahs have announced plans to release a new EP next month. The Is Is EP will be released on July 23rd in the UK and July 24th in America. The EP will comprise of five songs that were written in 2004 while touring for Fever To Tell, and four of the five songs appear on the DVD Tell Me What Rockers To Swallow. The release will come out on CD, download, USB and double-gatefold 7" and was produced by Nick Launay (Talking Heads, Grinderman, Nick Cave).
I won't post any of the songs from it (which is why, instead, I put a remix and a cover below) but I'll tell you that this EP gives Crystal Castles a run for their money as best EP this year (so far, at least). It is an almost perfect medium between the raw edge of Fever To Tell and the much smoother and toned down edge of Show Your Bones. There is still the same "wild n' crazy" touch in the songs and yet the almost danceable drum beats and chord-heavy guitarwork on a few songs are a good indication of where the band would be going next (Show Your Bones). Get excited.
