There aren't many things I can say about Travis Morrison that haven't been said already; after all, he was the lead singer and lyricist for the band responsible for one of the best albums of the 1990s, The Dismemberment Plan's Emergency & I. The band's art-rock twist on pop music was met with hordes of critical approval and now, despite the small bumps that came along with his 2004 solo album, Travis has gotten together with his band The Hellfighters to release a new album, All Y'all. It was produced by Jason Caddell (ex-D Plan) and mixed by Joel Hamilton. While, after giving this album an initial listen, All Y'all may be no Emergency & I, not many albums can compare, and it's only fair to judge the album on its individual merits, which seem to be plenty. Perhaps I just have a soft spot in my heart for Travis's voice, but the album grows more and more I listen to it.
The album, which comes out August 21st through Barsuk Records, can be streamed in its entirety at Travis's website, can be pre-ordered here, and you can download one song off of it below.
